Thanks for Giving Tea - SAVE the DATE: November 7, 2026

Marissa and Edith are two of our former mentees, who are attending this conference in Washington, D.C., where they met AAUW CEO Gloria L. Blackwell. Your membership and donations make this possible. Please encourage your friends and family to become members!

We relaxed and enjoyed treats with our new members at Brookside Clubhouse. Thanks to Amy Cooper for heading up the event, to Ronda Sanders and Diane Oren for illuminating events, and to Claudia and Bill Mennuti, Anita Bautista, and Barbara Nash for refreshments !

Melanie Parks and Elly Washington are pictured on the right; Lina Leung and Annette Sanchez are pictured above. Not pictured is new member Wendy Baskette.

Our Public Policy Committee, led by Karen Frank, lobbied District 13 Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom for equitable health care for all and anti-human-trafficking legislation (sponsored by AAUW). For details, see the Public Policy article in the April Delta Steamer. Photo by member Samantha Johnson.
Joining Public Policy Chair Karen Frank are AAUW members Bette Outlaw and new member Shelly Contreras.
Our leaders at AAUW California discuss issues, design legislation, and identify sponsors. Local branches lobby for support to advance our mission.
Our sponsored legislation is lobbied throughout the state by local AAUW branches. This year's successful meeting was with Assemblymember for District 13, Rhodesia Ransom.

Our state work is guided by a set of core values, including compassion, integrity, and collaboration.

Through our programs and initiatives, we have been able to make a positive impact in the lives of many. From supporting local businesses to providing basic necessities to those in need, we are proud of our achievements and the impact we have made.
